Holidays in Rinalda Tower (Lecce)

Rinalda Tower is a marina of Lecce and it is a charming seaside resort on the Adriatic coast of Puglia.

For yours holidays in Torre Rinalda in the province of Lecce, we recommend:

  • Residence village Torre Rinalda
  • Camping Torre Rinalda
  • Racar village in Frigole marina
  • Residence Campoverde San Cataldo
  • Acaya Golf Hotel Lecce

The town of Torre Rinalda takes its name from the sixteenth-century tower of the same name built by the Spanish to defend Lecce and Salento from the attacks of the Saracen pirates.

The ancient watchtower, now reduced to a ruin, has a truncated pyramid structure with a square base and was built around the 16th century using carparo blocks.

Despite the poor state of preservation, two small windows that also functioned as loopholes are still visible, located respectively on the side facing the sea and on the north side.

You can still see part of the barrel vault, which has now almost completely collapsed.

A short distance inland, there is the splendid Abbey of Santa Maria delle Cerrate.

The abbey is made up of a church particularly rich in architectural motifs both inside and outside and a series of frescoes from later periods which adorn the walls.
