Patù

It is assumed that the name of the municipality of Patù derives from the Greek pathos (suffering, pain), as it recalls the suffering of the city of Vereto (Veretum), from whose destruction by the Saracens the birth of the town derives.

In the municipality of Patù, in Puglia, there are several important historical monuments and archaeological sites.

Among the most important we mention the archaeological site with the remains of the Messapian city of Vereto, the Centopietre monument , which was established as a national monument.
