Patù

It is assumed that the name of the municipality of Patù, derives from the Greek pathos (suffering, pain), as it would recall the sufferings of the city of Vereto (Veretum), whose destruction by the Saracens gave rise to the birth of the town.

In the municipal territory from Patù, in Puglia There are several important historical monuments and archaeological sites.

Among the most important we can mention the archaeological site with the remains of the Messapian city of Vereto, the Centopietre monument, which was established as a national monument.
