What to visit in Sogliano Cavour?

Places to visit :

In the historic center , the 13th-century Baronial Castle is interesting; also worthy of note are the two noble palaces of the Scrimieri and the Micheli families.

The seventeenth-century Church of Maria Assunta and Sant'Agostino is very beautiful and interesting , where underneath there is a crypt dedicated to the Madonna del Riposo , this is one of the few remaining among the many excavated and built by the Basilian monks.

The Church of Maria Assunta and S. Agostino was built in the seventeenth century on a crypt from an earlier period, dedicated to the Madonna del Riposo, which is only partially preserved.

The construction works were completed in 1660, as attested by an engraving on the facade which appears simple and linear.

Noteworthy is the 700th century wooden choir.

In the crypt of the Madonna del Riposo, very little remains of the original structure: a rocky part on which a late nativity scene is frescoed.

The Virgin dates back to around the 12th century, while Saint Joseph is from a later period.

Under the current marble staircase, the steps carved into the rock that led into the hypogeum are visible.

Everything else was irremediably compromised in 1969 by the restoration works commissioned by the couple Concetta De Filippi and Carlo Magnolo.
