Cannole takes its name from the reed beds that were once present in large numbers in the fiefdom of this town in southern Puglia.
As evidence of this, the civic coat of arms of Cannole , still today, is depicted as a tall reed.
Looking at the road map it is clear that Cannole is located on the Salento plateau and is approximately 8 kilometres from Otranto and the Adriatic coast of Salento.
The slight difference in altitude, on clear days with a northerly wind, allows you to clearly observe the sea of Otranto from the Cannolese village.
Cannole is known for the Municeddha Festival and Festival , one of the most renowned festivals in Salento and certainly the most popular among tourists on holiday in Puglia.
